Our first priority at SoHo Management is clarity. This industry is daunting and we try to make the details as crystal clear as possible. We work with the best casting directors and productions teams throughout the world getting our talent as much exposure as possible. We submit our roster of actors for castings/auditions throughout North America which will include castings for TV series, TV movies, feature films, indie films, print work and commercials. Being an actor is not easy and it takes dedication and commitment to be excellent. We will help guide our talent with advice and feedback throughout the process to encourage their career. Bottom line, we only get paid when our talent gets paid. This is how it should be.

We are a Toronto agency representing talent for work throughout Canada and the U.S. We pride ourselves on being a boutique agency that has an excellent working relationship with casting directors and production teams in all the major working cities and we are extremely selective regarding our talent. We specialize in finding talent that have high potential and will work with them to build their careers instead of just collecting a pay cheque. We keep our roster small so that we can focus on what our actors need to succeed in the next steps of their careers.

Where is the Agency?

We are a Toronto agency located at 545 King St W, Suite 200, with a head office in Kingston, Ontario to allow our talent to also be submitted to projects in Ottawa and Montreal and not just local Toronto work. We work with all the Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal casting directors on a daily basis and have an excellent reputation with our lovely friends at all the casting and production offices, including Vancouver and the US. The casting world has changed which now 98% of everything we do as agents being online (through submission services, Zoom/Skype, emails and phone calls) which allows locations to now be flexible in the industry as more communication for casting projects are now happening remotely.

What do you look for?

Children - They must have personality and confidence! We don't expect kids to come in with extensive training but they should be natural on camera and very confident. Ages 4-12

Teens - All Teens should be actively training in film/tv at LB Acting Studios, Talent Inc Canada, Armstrong Acting Studios or LeBlanc School of Acting. We are absolutely willing to see any non-training teens upfront to assess their skills but all working teens are currently training with one of these institutions so this will be a requirement for film and television representation. We are also looking for teens for commercial work only (no experience required but they must have a great outgoing personality!)

Adults - Should be actively training or have an established resume in Film/TV work. We are willing to see adults who have been training in film/tv and are now ready to make the transition to be represented. We also are willing to see adult with little or no experience who have excellent personalities to begin in commercials only.

Do you represent Union members?

Yes! We represent both non-union and union members? We are pleased to work with ACTRA, SAG-AFTRA and EQUITY.

Do I need to have experience to be represented?

This is a tough question. Most of the agents in Toronto will say yes and won't even look at you without a demo reel or built up resume/IMDB page. But...we strongly believe that there are some fantastic actors out there that are being missed. We pride ourselves on finding some diamonds in the rough that end up booking jobs with almost nothing on their resume! Casting Directors are always a little surprised when we send one of our talent in and they blow away the competition at the audition who has been working for years. So ideally having experience is wonderful and will make our job easier but it's not absolutely necessary to have extensive experience, we like the challenge!

How do I get representation?

We are very particular at SoHo. We like diversity in our talent. If you think you have the right look for either film/tv or commercials/print. Our team is passionately dedicated to help guide, develop, educate and represent actors of all ages through our family-like atmosphere. So often I hear unnerving stories about scam agencies where the talent (or parents) have spent a ridiculous amount of money and they have nothing but a few photos to show for it. You should be seeing a result for your time and investment. This is why we have started SoHo...for you.

Many aspiring actors have no idea about the realities of this industry and are ill-prepared if they get signed on at an agency. We will prepare you with all the necessary direction, tools and information so you know what to expect from our agency representation. From creating your image, to rates and commissions, even to working internationally, we will ensure that you are completely prepared to enter this industry whether professionally or more on a part-time basis (just for fun).

I am very upfront with all my talent. To be successful in this industry it takes time, usually years, as there’s a lot of competition and it takes time to develop your relationships with production companies, directors and casting offices. This is a long journey, not something that will happen overnight even though social media will make it seem like it should, this is not reality. If you are looking for an agent who will help you for your entire career by treating you as they would a family member, then I am the right person potentially for you. If you want immediate results and are not prepared to listen and work, then I am not the agent for you.
